“The coming of spring” is an original handmade linocut print depicting a nude woman swimming out of the darkness of the winter months and into the warm company of a sleepy sun.
This print is hand relieved with a hand-carved linocut block. This process starts by carving a linoleum (either Japanese or battleship) block with a design, then inking the block with oil based inks and using the Etching press to print the image onto the paper.
The paper is heavyweight 280 gsm premium quality printmaking paper. It is 60% cotton, acid-free and archival. this means that is it 'long life' standard therefore giving the assurance of excellent conservation over time. Linocut printing is a traditional process where the paper picks up some of the stray marks (or "chatter") left intentionally on the block.
This print comes unframed, signed and posted in eco friendly packaging.
This linocut is made to order and the ink takes a few days to dry
