'Sirène' {Siren} Inspired by the iconic leg tattoo of the french muse and writer Youki Desnos who was photographed in the 1950s in Paris, with a mermaid tattooed on her leg. Originally tattooed and designed by the Japanese-French painter Lèonard Tsuguhara Foujita (her lover) who reached the height of his fame in 1920s Paris as a painter, mostly for self portraits. Youki Desnos was captured by photographer Robert Doisneau who famously captured the well known photograph "The Kiss" and also a member of the French Resistance who eluded capture during the second world war by falsifying documents in the darkroom. This print represents an incredible interwoven story of artists of Paris during world war II.
